“The mother is everything – she is our consolation in sorrow, our hope in misery, and our strength in weakness. She is the source of love, mercy, sympathy, and forgiveness.” The Prophet
Just before my son was born, an elderly gentleman, whom I knew only casually, told me that a person does not know how much love she or he has in their heart until they have a child. He was right!
Mother’s Day—in the U.S., the second Sunday of May—is that special day every year when people are reminded to honor their mothers. Thus, it’s the busiest day of the year for restaurateurs, and it ranks almost neck and neck with Valentine’s Day for florists and greeting card companies.
However, I believe Mother’s Day should be a deeper reflection than merely dinner, flowers and cards. As Khalil Gibran suggests in The Prophet, we should revere the beauty and depth of true Motherhood when a mother provides security as a child develops in the womb, safety when born, physical and emotional nurturing while maturing, and, often, unconditional love, forever.
I send best wishes to all Mothers for a very Happy Mother’s Day. All of us at OLEDA Inc. are thinking of you with lots of love! We hope you can feel it.
