THE ULTIMATE HOMEMADE HAIR MASK

Ladies, and gentlemen, it’s time to take your hair care to the next level and one of the best ways you can do something great for your do (pardon the pun) is to apply a hair mask. Most of us regularly use shampoo and conditioner but we usually stop there. The fact is, a hair mask goes a long way to maintaining a healthy head of hair. What’s more, there’s no need to buy a pricey, high-end hair mask. With a few simple ingredients from your fridge and pantry, you can concoct your own ultimate hair mask for a fraction of the cost. The homemade recipe below provides deep conditioning and restores moisture to dry and brittle strands.

What you’ll need:

  • 1 mashed Avocado, preferably ripe
(Chock-full of vitamins and amino acids, avocados rejuvenate your scalp, promoting optimal hair growth.)
  • 1/8 cup Olive Oil
(Olive oil is super for reducing breakage, softening hair and getting rid of that dreaded frizz.)
  • Juice of ½ Lemon
(This super astringent is great for removing buildup and leaves your hair shiny and dandruff-free. Its antiseptic qualities help sooth minor scalp irritations.)
  • 4 drops Almond Oil
(This sweet-smelling oil is a miracle worker for split ends and dry, brittle hair. Its softening and moisturizing agents bring dull-looking hair back to life.)
  • 1 Egg White for oily hair or 1 Whole Egg for dry to normal hair
(Packed with protein, eggs add shine, remove excess buildup add amplify volume. Egg whites are ideal for oily hair as they gently cleanse the scalp. Whole eggs have moisturizing properties that leave your hair silky smooth.)

Directions:

With a whisk, combine all ingredients and mix until you obtain a homogenous, thick mixture. Starting at scalp, apply mask to your hair with a silicone pastry brush, or if you prefer, directly with your hands. Work your way down to the ends of each strand until your hair is completely covered. For best results (and a less messy experience) cover your head with a shower cap once the mask has been applied. For optimal results, leave mask on for 20 minutes then rinse with warm water until water runs clear. Shampoo and condition as usual. Apply this mask at least once a month or as often as once a week.

As of the first application, your hair will feel incredibly soft, be super manageable and look beautifully lustrous. Oh and gentlemen, if you have some mask mixture left over, go ahead and apply it generously to your beard or stubble. It will make your facial hair softer and your shaving experience a walk in the park.
